Commodus was the last representative of the Antonine dynasty. He was the son of Marcus Aurelius and the first Roman emperor born during the reign of his father. Rough, cruel and an admirer of spectacles, he rarely paid attention to the public affairs. His reign marked the end of an era of the Good Emperors.
