Colonia Claudia Caesarea (close to today's town of Sharshal)
The city became a Roman colony in 1st century AD during the reign of Emperor Claudius. During this period it was one of the most important ports on the African continent for the Roman Empire. Unfortunately the ancient structures are not yet completely explored. There was a Stadium (circus) in the city whose outlines can be seen on satellite images.

Colonia Sitifis (today's Setif)
The city of Sitifis was founded by the Romans in the end of 1st century AD during the reign of Emperor Nerva. Originally Sitifis was a colony for veterans of the Roman legions. At the end of III century the city had a peak in its development. In this period it was the capital of the Roman province Mauretania Sitifensis. There was a stadium in the city with the common for the Roman architecture U shape. Its approximate dimensions were: length – 450 meters and width – 70 meters. Today the best preserved part is the sfendona.
