Augusta Treverorum (today Trier)
It is assumed that the circus was built during the earliest period of the history of Trier. The track was probably established soon after the city was founded. The hippodrome, with a length of about 450 meters, was very imposant in the first half of the 2nd century AD. It was renovated after 293 years, when Constantius l Chlorus moved to Trier.
