"Architecture educates the society how to perceive, understand, preserve and create beautiful surroundings". That was the leading motto of the Architectural Forum Plovdiv 2010, held from 20 to 30 September at the central square in the town.
The initiative of the regional structures of the Chamber and the Union of Architects in Bulgaria (CAB and UAB) was held for the first time in the frames of the Autumn Salon of Arts. The exhibition was part of the celebration of the 45 anniversary of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria. The inauguration of the Forum caused the interest to hundreds of people from the field, local government representatives, journalists and citizens.
In sympathy with the idea of the organizers that the public should become familiar with the projects for the future constructions in the city under the hills and in order to start talking together for Plovdiv - for it's past, present and tomorrow, the team of the Project BG 0041 "The Ancient Stadium of Philippopolis - Preservation, Rehabilitation and Urban Renewal" took part in the Forum.
The space between the city park and the central post office was filled with 150 exhibition panels. At total 252 project were presented, 125 of which showed architectural ideas for Plovdiv. Among the exhibition panels were works of architects from all around the country as well as of students at our universities and foreign schools of architecture. The project "Revitalization of the Ancient Stadium - Plovdiv" was presented with a panel prepared and presented by the author team led by Prof. arch. Todor Krestev.
There are discussions underway for the projects, participated in Plovdiv Architecture Forum 2010, to be collected in a catalog in alphabetical order the names of their authors. The project of the Ancient Stadium will be under the number 128. The idea is to developed a traveling exhibition, so that more colleagues could see it, says Arch. Stoyanova. Thus the city's development will be also presented from another perspective, consider the organizers of the Forum.
