The travel was associated with a study of Norwegian experience in the field of: conservation of archaeological sites, adaptation of cultural sites environment for disabled people, management of archaeological sites; educational activities in relation to cultural heritage, experience in the international cooperation in preservation of cultural property.
Arch. Donika Georgieva (member of the project management team) and arch. Rumyana Proykova (member of the executive design team) made a presentation of the project - "Project BG0041 - The Ancient stadium of Philippopolis - Preservation, Rehabilitation and Urban Renewal". Focus of the presentation were the participation of the Directorate in the Project management team and the application of the Norwegian experience in the organisation and functioning of the ad-hoc Norwegian-Bulgarian Centre for Urban Archaeology.
Ms. Inger-Marie Olsrud (Archaeologist, Senior Adviser, Heritage Care and Conservation, Department for Conservation) presented "The Ruin Project", a project of the Directorate in relation to conservation and preservation of archaeological sites in Norway. Some specific approaches to the conservation of the stone ruins and experience in the use of different mixtures in the consolidation of the walls were presented and discussed. Arch. Ingun Bruskeland Amundsen (Architect, Head of Section for Urban and Local Development Plans, Department for Buildings, Monuments and Sites at the Directorate) presented the work of the Norwegian Directorate in relation to sustainable urban development of historic cities. Several visits were organised: the ruins of the medieval convent at Hovedøya island, the monastery St. Olav (Olavsklosteret) and the ruins of the so-called "Double Cathedral" (Domkirkeruinene) in of Hamar.
The presentations and meetings were also attended by: Ms. Reidun Vea, Ms. Inger Anne Heldal, Ms. Eva Walderhaug, Ms. Inger Kalberg, Arch. Marte Boro, Mr. Steinar Bjerkestrand.
The scientific visit related to the exchange of professional experience was assessed as successful from the professionals.
